Understanding Fixing Kits
The term "fixing kits" in the context of Interbloc refers to a combination of components specifically designed to vertically reinforce walls. Vertical reinforcement is crucial for walls exceeding a height of 1800mm, or three blocks, and serves two primary purposes.
1. Standard Fixing Kits
The standard fixing kits increases the out-of-plane bending capacity of the wall by securely tying it into the underlying foundation. This design facilitates the creation of a cantilever wall, ensuring structural stability.
2. Top and Bottom Fixing Kits
Top and bottom fixing kits tie gravity walls together, preventing accidental block rotation, especially in situations where machinery interacts with the wall. These kits are essential for maintaining the integrity of the wall structure.
Components of Top and Bottom Fixing Kits
The primary function of top and bottom fixing kits is to prevent accidental block rotation or dislodgement. To accomplish this, Interbloc employs vertical reinforcing bars with diameters typically ranging from 12 to 16mm. Notably, these bars are often non-galvanized for cost efficiency, especially when the structure is not expected to have an extended design life.
